3 Day Cleanse Review!

I recently did a 3 Day Cleanse and have gotten a lot of questions about what it is and how to do it. First, let me be 100% and say that I cannot survive on liquid for 3 days, which is why I like this.  I also cannot chase around 2 toddlers during the weekend and not eat. It just is impossible. This includes real food. It is strict, but you DO get to eat.  Here is a quick summary of what each day looks like:

What: 3 Day Refresh Kit
When: Typically done over a weekend, Friday through Sunday however I recently have had better success doing it during the week. That way I can still enjoy my wine on the weekends! The downside about during the week is I don't have a blender at work...so I have to mix the drinks myself and they aren't quite as cold. But I am less active during the week so its a better time for me personally to cut calories.

Step 1: Drink Shakeology (protein shake) for Breakfast with a banana. (I choose the chocolate vegan or greenberry flavor)
Step 2; Drink Vanilla Fresh Shakes (another protein shake) for Lunch and Dinner
Step 3: Add in Fiber Drink Sweep (keeps you full!)
Step 4: Enjoy Health, Cleanse Approved Foods!

Details: For 3 days you will follow the 3-Day Refresh Cleanse (which includes REAL food!) This will reset your body allow you to refresh. Typical results include a minimum of 3lbs and 3 inches. You drink ALOT of water on this program so its not water weight. Its simply hitting the reset button and getting you restarted. For examples of what you eat on the program, you can check out my Pinterest board.

I typically do this when I feel like I have been too depending on sugar and carbs. Post Halloween. Post vacation. Post Thanksgiving :) You get the idea. It reminds your body that it can function without being dependent on processed foods.

Workouts:
I actually workout normally when I do the cleanse. I tend to get better results. (I have done it 3 times so far). After the first day my body adjusts and I am not hungry. They recommend pilates or yoga.

Tips:
- Plan 3 days when you are not going out to eat. Its to hard.
- Drink the fiber drink REALLY cold. I mean VERY cold. It is so much better.
- If you want to do the juice options as one of your snacks, I recommend the SUJA essentials brand. (Especially the Uber Greens version). If I do this, I will drink 2 or do juice plus some veggies/hummus since one serving is only 50 calories
- I always put extra spinach in my Shakeology. Its just good for you. (You can learn to make a perfect smoothie here!)

Results:
Results vary by person, the best thing about the cleanse is after the 1st day you feel less depending on food. The first day or even into the 2nd day, you might get a headache or two. This is your body detoxing. Its normal. After about 24 hours you should wake up feeling refreshed and with some extra pep in your step!

I hope that answers your questions! Feel free to email me at hollyhayneshealth@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more. Its great for this time of year when you have a big party coming up!

Holly

The Friday 5! (September 25 Edition)

I'm back with the Friday 5! A snapshot of the week and some of my favorite things lately.

1) First lets start with last Thursday, aka Taylor Swift Day! :) I'm still listening to her music on repeat in the mornings when I workout. Who doesn't love a little Taylor in the AM! She was SO good!

2) Next on the list was the girls 2nd day (2nd week) at preschool (aka Mom's Day Out (or Dad) Program). Its not perfect but we are working through it. The teachers seem great and the girls are really loving their backpacks (i.e. don't want to take them off!)

The park is still their favorite activity to do followed by play dough! The weather has been so nice!

 3) On a foodie front I made these pumpkin cookies this week. I skipped the cranberries and added about 1/4 cup more pumpkin. They are good crunchy and have a nice sweet taste to them!

4) If I had unlimited free time and an unlimited budget I would go on a re-decorating spree! My favorite DIY bloggers came out with a new book this week which I pre-ordered so it was a nice mid-week surprise! For some reason reading decorating blogs is relaxing at 10pm at night!

5) Last but not least, I did a 3 day cleanse this week (Monday through Wednesday) where I restricted myself to protein shakes, fruits and veggies (no sugar, dairy or carbs). It was the perfect reset to remind my body what its like to run on clean energy. (And I get to head into the weekend a good 5lbs lighter!)

I am super excited to meal plan this week (if you don't eat much for 3 days its very exciting). This is one of our dinners we are planning. I can't wait to try it...BBQ Meatloaf cups. Perfect for the little people and big people in the family!

I am also pretty excited for the weekend! Its Scott's birthday, lots of football and the weather is going to be amazing. I get bordline giddy about breaking out the pumpkin and boots!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! TGIF!

Inspiration!

This is a little bit of a change from my normal "family" posts, but I have been looking a lot lately for inspiration. For working moms, twin moms, women, family, fitness challenges, how to stay balanced etc. to stay motivated. (You get the idea!)  I read a lot of blogs, probably too many but one that has stuck out in my inbox lately is Ivanka Trump's. (I know, what in the world do I have in common with her!?!?!)  Its surprisingly whitty, provides some great advice and has been a one stop shop for a lot of great articles (and fashion advice of course) lately. So I thought I would share. Here is a snapshot of what you might see.

The weekly emails (which you can subscribe to here) breaks down the content into how much time you have to read. (Perfect!)

You can get a Ted Talks, recipe and even a running playlist in about 5 seconds. My favorite part is a section called "Wise Words". Every week when I read these I feel inspired and ready to tackle the day. So here are today's #wisewords.

"Its the ultimate luxury to combine passion and contribution. Its a clear path to happiness." - Sheryl Sandberg #wisewords

Looking forward to the weekend. I am embarking on a 3 Day Cleanse...oh yeah! More to come on that soon!
