One Year

Its officially been one year this week since we moved into 3300 Northampton. Time flies. I am also very thankful to not be lugging around boxes with super swollen feet. :) I think Scott is too!



I am much happier lugging around 18lbs of smiles. (Technically 17.5 lbs each.) Since it is our first full spring in the house we weren't sure what to do or what to plant. We kind of just winged it this year but I think the end result looks pretty nice. We stuck to pink and red which we typically did in our last house. Most of our plants our on the deck and we have opted to keep the back woods pretty "natural" looking for now. I have envisions of a pretty cool playhouse back there someday but we are still loving the privacy all the trees offer.



Unfortunately the paver patio that looked so nice last spring crumbled over the winter so we are having it repaired in a few weeks. I am excited to see the upgraded version!



 



The front is also coming along and has provided a lot color thus far.



Our goal this weekend is to finish a bit more landscaping. I read an article that for each child a family planted a tree in the yard and then when they were grown so were the trees. Not sure our yard supports that so we are going to plant some hydrangeas for the girls. Plus we hope to enjoy the yard!

Spring Please?!?

Well we thought the snow was behind us but today we are getting another 4-6 inches. UGH. I decided regardless of the weather it was time to finish our family room and spruce it up with some spring decor. (Plus the baby gear was taking over!) Our goal was to finish the downstairs of the house before the girls were born, which we did for the most part, but we put some final touches in the family room this week (Thank goodness for Amazon Prime and Pottery Barn free delivery!) We ended up with a new rug and some pillows, along with a mantel refresh. The goal later this spring is to tackle new countertops and a backsplash in the kitchen. Oh yeah, and the girls got two new high chairs. Very chic :) We are hoping to try some cereal this afternoon...AH!



 

I need to learn to take better indoor pictures, these are so dark! At least you get the idea. I love the little owl pillow on the couch. We also managed to snap a few shots of the girls, marking the 4 month mark. (I was only two weeks over this time!)



 

Its been a little hectic in this house since I have been back to work. It's probably the hardest transition I haver ever made and I am guessing Scott might say the same. I feel so lucky the girls are home with their Dad and I am told it gets easier so we shall see! I definitely cherish the weekends more than I ever had!

All in the Family

I finally got around to taking some nursery pics, although I still have been playing around with the placement of things.  I tried to combine a little style with a lot of items we already had in the family so its a mesh of history.  The lighting in the room is a little off because of the sun and the overhead light, so its not as "pink" as it looks, its more of a light shade.



The dresser was Ann's that Scott refinished and is going to be the changing table until the girls get bigger. The tree and pom poms were my Etsy creation.



The girls are going to share a crib at first but above each one we have their initials (no name telling yet) and some artwork that pulls in the bird, pink and gray theme. My dad always used to sing "You are my sunshine" to Kelly and I so it has some special meaning.  One of the cribs is also Heather's.  We were lucky enough to find two that matched almost 15 years later!



We also managed to fit in a book shelf which was from Heather's nursery and re-painted a mirror that was from Scott's room as a kid. Two cribs, a changing table, bookcase and rocker is a lot!!





My good friend Holly gave us their rocker which is an awesome gift. I also painted a few bird houses to go with the bird theme. I think something needs to go underneath them but I can't figure out what! (You can see my bags are packed!)



We also added Heather's growth chart so we could track the girls height as well as some frames for their cute little hand and foot prints.  I guess we are ready...as ready as we are going to be!

We go tomorrow for our growth ultrasound which should be very telling. I am excited to see what position they are in as well. We go to our regular doctor again on Friday morning.  We are on an every other week schedule for the next few weeks and will start doing some stress tests at 34 weeks. (I will be 32 on Wednesday.) These just monitor the girls heartbeats and contractions for 20 minutes to make sure they are not under any stress. September could be baby month! We will see...

Starting to look like Home...

I finally got around to taking a few house pics today since it was nice and sunny out this a.m. I wish I could take credit for the yard work but that is all Scott these days (and some help from Heather, Matthew and Scott's Dad!) We have some plans to remove that big pine tree on the left and take out or trim the mysterious red bush below it, but it at least looks a little more under control and kept.



The deck is probably our favorite spot. We cheated this year and got some plants from my mom's nursery instead of planting our own. Next year perhaps! We still need a lot of "decorating" but at least things are starting to fall into place.  Below are a few pics of the dining room and living room.



I'd like to replace the light fixture in the dining room as well as hang a cool wine rack above the buffet, maybe with a few pictures on the wall. We'll see. I think the nursery probably takes priority of a wine rack right now :) The dining room is also Gracie's favorite spot. You can see her little head poking out on the left entrance.



The living room started out as an extra room with all of our misc. furniture but is starting to become my favorite room so far. I am trying to go with a yellow, blue and green theme and hope to get a cool Ikat rug with some wicker baskets and maybe another chair to give a little bit of a beachy feel one day.

Progress! Up next is tackling the basement. We have started but its another project all in itself.

48 Hours

...Well technically 72 if you count today but what a whirlwind it has been since Thursday! Our move started last Thursday with the packing of all of our boxes into a lovely Uhaul. (Long story on that process but you can blame our realtor who most likely would have been fired if we weren't on a timeline, thankfully it ended up working out!)





We then started the formal move this past Thursday where we thought we were going to save some time/work with a moving company. That unfortunately was not the case (which again is another long story) but if you can imagine two movers getting fired and taken away in a taxi along with a huge hole in our wall and a broken light that should sum it up.  Scott, Ann, Matthew, Heather and my mom ended up doing a ton of work. I tried to lift as much as a I could but by about 2pm I no longer had ankles.



We were just excited to get to the new house! With that said, the unpacking has begun, I am so thankful for everyone that helped us. Our goal this weekend was to get the Great Room, Kitchen and Pantry done before I go back to work and Heather starts summer school. We have by far exceed expectations. (Granted Scott and I have barely stopped but I think yesterday was our breaking point and we ended up watching HGTV and eating pizza!)

Not perfect, but coming along! My absolute favorite part of the house is the wall of windows and the back yard. I catch myself just starring outside at the privacy and all the trees. I can't wait to get some flowers out there!





Our goal for the summer is to finish unpacking (hopefully in the next few weeks), new appliances (coming Tuesday!) and then onto painting the twins and Heather's room! My brain is overflowing with ideas, my body is telling me to slow down. So I am working on the baby book today and catching up work! The pic below is from 17 weeks, I will be 19 on Wednesday. We have our big anatomy ultrasound also on Wednesday so we are excited to see the babies and how they have grown. A big week for sure!

16 Weeks and Counting....

In my attempt to document my pregnancy (about 4 months late), I have given the blog a bit of a makeover and added a "baby" page.  Between morning sickness which lasted a full 10 weeks and moving, I decided to take the afternoon off today and catch up on life. I actually made it to the gym (and starred down all the cute pregnant women who were busting their butts in BodyPump...the Elliptical is more my speed), Scott and I worked on selling some of our older furniture and made it to a few new furniture stores to start working on the new house.  So here are a few updates that are long overdue!

HOUSE:



We closed on Friday (long story there) and are in full packing mode. I would say the house is 90% complete thanks to Scott. We officially start the move process on Friday and finish it up the following weekend when the formal movers come.

BABY

I am so reluctant to say "twins" because I keep reading my twin books that you should keep the separated and establish their own identities.  For now Baby A and Baby B will have to do. We find out on June 3rd the gender when we get to go for a anatomy scan at the hospital. I have read that this takes almost an hour which means we get the treat of seeing the babies on a big screen for 60 minutes! Some days I feel more pregnant than others, but after 10 weeks of morning sickness (which was more like all day and night sickness) I am so thankful to be feeling more like myself!



PREGNANCY THOUGHTS: 

Weight Gained: 10 lbs. Scary. I am right on track based on the 1.5-2lb a week estimate for twins. (Maximum would be 16 lbs at this point.)

Exercise: I made a workout calendar and have been aiming for 3-4 times a week although some weeks in the beginning I only made it to 2. I have been doing Tracey Andersen's Pregnancy Project as well as walking, yoga and the elliptical. I miss biking so much. Next year.

Symptoms: Tired a lot. Don't sleep well. Traveled this past week for work and decided to finish the new Kristen Hannah book. I wept the whole ride home (which was at 12:30am) most likely due to a sad book and just overall exhaustion. By 1am I was analyzing our entire move! (Thankfully I only have one trip left for work.)

Movement: None, although the doctor last Monday said they were moving all over the place.

Food Cravings: None. In fact have had more food aversions (i.e. meat) then anything. For once in my life food is just a necessity and doesn't really taste great at all. So weird. I kind of hope that sticks! For about a month I couldn't even look at chicken but now if I put lots of ketchup on it, its OK. Salads, vegetables and smoothies have been the best meals.

Looking Forward To: Finding out the gender. I am literally dreaming about it at night (i.e. nursery, names etc.)  I cannot wait! I also am very ready to move and to get working on that nursery which oddly I have no idea what I am going to do with.

New Baby Items: None purchased. Tim and Megan gave us these cute little bootie socks this weekend though! I have realized however that maternity dresses look like tents and I am much better off with more form fitting outfits for now. Otherwise I look like I have a beer gut.

So there you go. I hope to be writing more often or at least on a weekly/monthly basis after the move!
