Statistical Averages

I haven't written a post in a while,  so I thought I would post our latest baby watch update.  First things first, we are getting very large averaging about 1/2 lb to 1 lb a week right now (that applies to me and hopefully the babies!)...The whole concept is crazy to me because I am so full I can only eat really small meals. I just feel like a big rolly polly.

After an early trip to labor and delivery a few weeks ago we have successfully made it to 35 weeks which means if the girls decide to come, they won't stop anything at this point.  It is also the "average" gestational period for twins so statistically speaking, they are better than average :)  I am still on medicine to ease contractions which the doctor is going to keep me on for one more week.  My blood pressure has been very up and down (usually its really low) so they are monitoring that closely and we are going to the doctor every week now. Next Tuesday we get another ultrasound and hopefully will find out the weight of the girls as well as their position.  (I am pretty sure they haven't moved). This will help determine next steps in terms of delivery options.  Bottom line they can come anytime. If we make it to 38-39 weeks, they will induce (somewhere between the 16th and 23rd). I try not to think about that however because I am so uncomfortable, that seems like a year! Baby B is still breach, so the weight difference between the two will determine a lot.  More to come...

Weight Gained: I am trying to stop counting and have been focusing on eating fruits and veggies (lots of smoothies) everyday. (Check out the difference at 25 weeks!) We are hoping the girls are 5lbs each or larger at this point.

Exercise: While I am not on bedrest, I have been told to take it easy, which means no more pilates/working out. I usually can't stand more than 15 minutes without some sort of consequence (swollen feet, tightening etc.) I miss working out so much. I dream about running and workout clothes! I do appreciate the cooler weather however which gets me outside a little more!

Cravings: Still none. I missed the boat on this one. Although I have been on a huge OJ kick. Ironically the lactation consultant we met with said I needed to cut that out once I start breastfeeding so I guess its my way of getting it in now.

Baby Purchases: I think we are set. The carseats are in the car (which is a story in itself), clothing labeled (I may have spent the day with my label maker over organizing the girls clothes) and multiple changing stations setup in the house.  I am so grateful to all my friends for their awesome hand me downs.  With the exception of some warm weather clothes (snowsuits, hats etc.) we really have a lot of options. The only erratic purchase I made was ordering 4 Halo Sleep Sacks after learning they are recommended to help reduce SIDS from our baby class.

Mood: Pretty up and down. I am not really a "crier" but some days are just bad days. I just have to remind myself the girls are healthy and the longer they are baking the better! My last day at the client is Monday, so I think that makes me a bit anxious. We are definitely moving into a new chapter. I am also anxious to see how this all turns out. I guess that is normal.  I managed to paint my nails the color of the nursery and am getting a much needed haircut today. (The little things!)

Sleep: What is sleep? Sleep is awful. I am up pretty much every hour to two and have this new issue where I am wide awake between 2am and 4am.  I guess its good practice.  I try to take naps when I can but even that is difficult these days.

We are celebrating Scott's birthday this weekend as well as Heather's placement in the OCC and Sectional Tournament for Tennis. (I need to take some more tennis pictures!)

Have a great weekend!

All in the Family

I finally got around to taking some nursery pics, although I still have been playing around with the placement of things.  I tried to combine a little style with a lot of items we already had in the family so its a mesh of history.  The lighting in the room is a little off because of the sun and the overhead light, so its not as "pink" as it looks, its more of a light shade.

The dresser was Ann's that Scott refinished and is going to be the changing table until the girls get bigger. The tree and pom poms were my Etsy creation.

The girls are going to share a crib at first but above each one we have their initials (no name telling yet) and some artwork that pulls in the bird, pink and gray theme. My dad always used to sing "You are my sunshine" to Kelly and I so it has some special meaning.  One of the cribs is also Heather's.  We were lucky enough to find two that matched almost 15 years later!

We also managed to fit in a book shelf which was from Heather's nursery and re-painted a mirror that was from Scott's room as a kid. Two cribs, a changing table, bookcase and rocker is a lot!!

My good friend Holly gave us their rocker which is an awesome gift. I also painted a few bird houses to go with the bird theme. I think something needs to go underneath them but I can't figure out what! (You can see my bags are packed!)

We also added Heather's growth chart so we could track the girls height as well as some frames for their cute little hand and foot prints.  I guess we are ready...as ready as we are going to be!

We go tomorrow for our growth ultrasound which should be very telling. I am excited to see what position they are in as well. We go to our regular doctor again on Friday morning.  We are on an every other week schedule for the next few weeks and will start doing some stress tests at 34 weeks. (I will be 32 on Wednesday.) These just monitor the girls heartbeats and contractions for 20 minutes to make sure they are not under any stress. September could be baby month! We will see...
