One Goal

This weekend wraps up my 4th Pelotonia. Its my 3rd time volunteering and 2nd time riding. It was awesome. I always ride in memory of my dad but this year I have a co-worker and friend who is fighting a tough battle and our Navigator Peloton was dedicated to him. When I was younger and would visit my Dad in Florida I would always go on runs around the lake near his house. Sometimes he was home when I would run and it was relaxing and fun. Other times he was in the hospital and it was my time to reflect and think. He would always tell me, "Holly, run because I cannot." So I would run. That has always motivated me.  Once I discovered Pelotonia I was convinced that he would be OK with me biking too! :)

Scott and I volunteered the first year and I was hooked. The next year I rode 100 miles. I told myself every year thereafter I would make this apart of our lives and our family. Last year I volunteered (aka the "baby break') and this year I did both. (And let me tell you riding 50 miles is WAY easier than volunteering all day while 8 months pregnant!) Every year is a different experience but this year I was able to share it with many of my close friends and co-workers. We trained together and rode together and my good friend Megan made the trip from Tampa to ride with me again. We shared stories, laughed, cried (well I did at the start) and celebrated at the end.

Dedicating yourself to significant fundraising and time is no small feat. I have all of you to thank and especially Scott and Heather who support me in these adventures. Pelotonia is a family tradition in our house and I know my dad would be proud.

Pictures speak 1000 Words

They say pictures speak 1000 words...for our vacation recap, I am going to let the pictures tell the story. Our trip to Hilton Head, while well planned, went nothing the way we thought. The girls had a very hard time adjusting and took 2+ people on most days to hold it together. 35 years ago I came here for the first time...Last week we celebrated the girls 9 month birthday and what would have been my Dad's 64th. Hilton Head has always been my special place. We didn't make it to all my favorite spots, didn't get a lot of sleep, had a few meltdowns (well a lot) and didn't quite get that family picture I always wanted but we had a few moments to remember.

Needless to say we feel a bit defeated with all the effort that went into the trip and are hoping to come up for air soon. The girls are still teething and not sleeping...this phase cannot get over soon enough! Regardless, even though I am at a loss for words (probably due to lack of sleep!), looking through the pictures make me smile. On a positive note we were able to get a little sun, dip those little cute toes in the sand and spend some time with Heather and Scott's parents. Plus Emily kept us fueled by cooking every night. There were are few special moments and for that I am thankful.

Happy 4th!

We hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July! The girls made it to their first parade and loved the bands. Katherine is definitely the dancer in the family and bounces to about every musical note played. (Including mom and dad's singing). Savannah was more interested in her snacks, but they had fun and the weather was perfect! The girls loved waiving the flags (perhaps that comes from Grandma Oroszi and her love of the 4th!) and the big balloons. We also got to see Uncle Tim and cousin Gavin who we haven't seen for a while. Hard to believe the kiddos are only 3 weeks apart. Its fun to see them interact and play now.

The weekend couldn't be more perfect in terms of temperature. We are trying to pack for our big trip and also get out and enjoy the weather and use our new patio. Savannah likes to take full advantage of the space she gets in the stroller :)

This is short today but the girls have approached what we found out is the 37/38 week "wonder week" which basically means they are developing all kinds of new skills (dancing, waving, talking etc.) and don't sleep at night. We are going on day 10 or so of restless nights. Fingers crossed it gets better soon!

Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend!
